Plans:
⧫ I will capture images using a polaroid camera (Fujifilm Instax Mini 8)
⧫ I will capture images using a digital camera (Canon EOS 450D)
⧫ I will edit the digital photographs using Photoshop CC 2014
⧫ I will create a large scale photomontage of my subjects
⧫ I will place the polaroids around the photomontage to create an installation piece
Hope to Achieve:
What I hope to achieve for exam shoot 1 is to document self identity and its construction. I will be photographing a singular model and will either digitally or physically create a photomontage of the images. After it has either been composed on a large sheet of card or printed and then organised on a sheet, I will layout the polaroids that depict items that are important to the person and aid in the understanding of their identity.
I am hoping that my exam final pieces will show my development as a result of my preparatory photoshoots and also my research and will also, hopefully, create a photographic installation that fits the exam topic of connected images but also my theme of identity in an aesthetically pleasing way.
Actually Achieved:
Overall, I was not fully pleased with the initial outcome of exam shoot 1. The camera and studio set up worked as expected buy the compositions of my models could have been more exaggerated to provide a more striking final image.
The photo joiner that was made using Photoshop is not the intended final destination of the photographic composite and I plan on furthering it through physical experimentation where I will create a photographic installation by re-creating the photo joiner after printing. This is also where my polaroid photographs will be used to, hopefully, create an almost life size joiner that shows my exam topic of connected images but also my chosen theme of identity.
Progression:
This is the first photoshoot of my exam time and I will be replicating this technique once more in my next shoot but focusing on another subject. I am hoping to create a more dynamic final piece in that this shoot will hopefully have more photographs to choose the variety of poses from than the one discussed above.

Final -
This image depicts a friend of mine who is an artist and aspiring tattooist; as such I wanted to show these elements as significant aspects of her identity. Her favourite paintbrush is held in her hands whilst one of her many other hands is showcasing the first of her tattoos. I did not want to simply depict aspects of her future identity but also elements of her past. To do this I asked her to bring an item of significance from her, or her families past, and she chose to wear the rings which she had inherited from her grandmother and how her family are also important in the construction of her identity as they were responsible for her primary socialisation. Another, smaller symbol within the final image is the reference to her mobile phone which is just visible in the pocket; this was to show the ideas of modern youth but also as an external link to peers and friends who are also part of her identity.
The polaroids depict a lot of the same icons but another one that is present is the keys. The keys are a symbol for home, belonging, and this is representative of how far too often there is not a position for youth in society where we can comfortably belong.
